Swimming Lessons!!
Today was our first day of swimming lessons for Rylan. It said on the info page regarding the lessons that they like parents to leave the facility. Which I might add I was struggling with. The ratio for instructors to kids is 1:6 so I felt a little apprehensive leaving him. However when I got there they announced that they would prefer the parents stay. And boy am I glad I did. I love watching Rylan when he doesn't know I'm watching. It's fascinating! So at first he's nervous and you can tell. They are sitting on the side of the pool learning motions and he's barely looking up. And I might add that that only lasted about 2 minutes. So the instructor starts herding them into the water and Ry decides he's going to walk along the edge and jump in. He immediately jumps in and starts to paddle off (oh and no floaties). I'm watching the teacher (just a 18 year old looking girl) looking at the kids as I watch my Ry head for the deep end...................FINALLY she realizes he's gone and goes after him. Oh my! The poor girl I was sitting by probably want to get up and move! She struggles to keep him around and in her area. He's too busy getting out of the pool and jumping back in which by the way no one else is doing. When they are on one side of the pool he's on the other. NOT LISTENING is all I kept thinking. They specifically said at the beginning for parents to stay on the side and WATCH and let the instructor teach but a few times I had no choice but to get his attention!! When they were done he sadly announced to me..."It's over mommy." I let him know we would be back again tomorrow and he just wasn't satisfied. Poor guy!!! He's so darn cute and so darn brave I have to just sit on my hands and keep my mouth shut!! :)
