Cali with R!
My blog and I are at a crossroads. Seems like I've got lots of crossroads in my life going on. How about a few random pics from my camera. We'll see where that will/could/can/might take us.
Fair enough?

Around here.

Every so often...I catch a glimpse of this sweet girl wearing these oh so fashionista glasses.
Like randomly I tell ya.
And she's super discrete about it.
As if she really needed them to see.
It's
awesome.

Happy Tuesday.

Hi there. Hey. Hello.
I.despise.Hadlee.being.tired.afterschool.
Seriously.
That girl is someone I don't even know when we get home.
She's exhausted!
Oh and did you know that Kindergarteners now are "tested"....like folders up on their desks so no one can copy them tested...3 times per year.
Geez one more slash mark for public education.
Seriously they are kindergarteners....only 5 years old people.
And on the topic of Hadlee...she informed me today that my boobs hang to the ground.
Thanks for noticing little lady.
Yep...you're right sweet girl.
I'm proud of these low riders.
They fed three babies for 3 1/2 years and therefore they "hang to the ground."
I'm proud of them for that.

randomness...

Let's see.

Hadlee ended up despising school. The new quickly wore off....like within the first few days of school and routine set in and that little lady was thrown off her rocker. For four straight weeks we cried, and screamed and threw the towel in....yep I said we...b/c it was a group effort. She simply stated..."I like it but I'm there for toooo long." Agreed sweet girl...you ARE there for too long. Week 5 we finally saw progress. Sigh. Who knows what the next morning always holds. Spends most days afterschool reenacting school....carrying a clipboard around and asking peeps to please not interrupt...hmmmm.

Rylan...the professed wanted to be homeschooler'ed...has adjusted amazingly. He's digging his new teacher and so is his mama! We've even branched out just yesterday and ate for the first time folks in the cafeteria. That's a big deal now for my closed minded child. :) Flag football and cub scouts!

Rowan...shout it from a mountaintop...that boys speech is making milestones! Perhaps it's b/c now he's solo all day long and can finally alas get a word in. There's nothing I love more than our newfound chats!

We've all adjusted and have found our groove...we thrive and function best on routine remember peeps...er routine natzi. This mama's got her christmas shopping underway and R and I are making amazing progress (like we're so super proud of ourselves) with our newfound frugality! Are either of those words anyway? Seriously....it's so not us but we're making it us and it's majorly working and we're ecstatic. I'd download pics for ya but that would require a few extra steps and we all now how much work it is these days to even get a post out of me. I'm sorry about that I'm too busy frazzling my brain with pinterest! Happy Wednesday folks.

Another year.

We threw our second born to the wolves...ahhem....sent our second born babe to Kindergarten.
I can hardly believe it.
It's bitter sweet I tell ya.
I know without a doubt...sensed it and all...that she was more than ready for Kindergarten.
I worked myself up all out of sorts on Monday night.
Predicted that at any second an anxiety attack was going to kick in.
I self soothed.
The anxiety attack stayed at bay.
I also assumed that Tuesday I would wake up wacky and emotional and anxious.
I instead kept myself busy making now 2 lunches, preparing 2 snacks and 4 water bottles, french toast for breakfast, it went on and on and is does getting peeps ready soooo early for a long day. We opted for walking...heat and all.

I began to feel surprised with myself.
Calm.

Hadlee couldn't have been more excited for school.

She embraced all the fresh faces, the crowds and all the newness there was to take in.
Rylan continued to insist that he prefered to be homeschooled...even on the way to school.
1st stop....Rylan to his 2nd grade classroom....still not looking thrilled but decidely, prob realizing there weren't many options, hung his backup up and stored his lunchbox away.
We left our sweet Kindergartener in her classroom and I suppose it was there that the anxiety crept back in.
R assured me that she was fine....I read further into her gazes than he did.
She seemed nervous.
I had no choice but to walk away.
She was in great hands.
Home we went...just with the wee babe.

Tuesday lasted forever.
I couldn't have been more thrilled (and slightly teary) to see my sweet babes run toward me with open arms at 2:42 to declare (by Hadlee) that she didn't even cry.
Oh good.
I did worry about that all day too.
Rylan..."it was good."
That's it folks.
7 hours of school and that's all i get.
Overall.
Seems to be a success.
P.S....Day 2...miscommunication on pickup for Hadlee. There were tears from both of us.

Summer Smummer.

**Insert Rylan into the room...for his 85th attempt at stalling bedtime...he feels the need to have multiple snacks at bedtime.
Me: "Rylan...help yourself to a banana."
Ry: "I can't get a banana. It's too hard to rip.
Rip is a funny word in my opinion.

Ah hem...where was I?
Oh yes the heat index is what again? 1,394 degrees. Yes that's right.
I can taste fall in my mouth.
Seriously.
I'm salivating thinking about it.
I want nothing more than to resume endless hours of outdoor playing.
It delights the babes and I.
I want to so badly open emails about New Halloween Decor Now Available.
I just can't bring myself to do it.
I need a break in the heat first.

We've vacationed...multiple times this summer...my personal fav. I'd love nothing more than to never spend another dime on anything other than traveling.
The latest in fact was to the best texas beach i've ever put my toes in.
Surfside.
Must be a well kept secret among beach lovers.
We'll be making it a yearly occurence.
2 thumbs up from me if you need any beach reviews.

My thoughts on this vacation are:
How did we ever drive anywhere long distance without a dvd player?
My favorite peeps make vacations even more amazing!
Vacations are for indulging...creamy jalapeno never gets old...
Neither do margaritas and watermelon martinis (well maybe so).
Swim shirts are heaven sent.
Chick-fil-a...seriously $30. Could have and would have rather gone to Chuys.
Paint by number sets are seriously soothing.
Rowan...not a fan of the beach....makes less work for me.
My children and their sliced breads are the most creative peeps ever...log rolling, log sledding, pit digging.
I never once heard a child say they were bored.
People watching is even more fun when observant people are involved.
Liars Dice.
Next year...will bring fire pit.
2 sharks...did you hear that?
No matter how often we see those besties....goodbyes will and always are h.a.r.d.
The drive home can't ever go by fast enough.
Which by the way...why do my children never fall asleep in the car??? Especially when they are beyond exhausted? Is it b/c of that darn dvd player?
Oh well.
Best.Family.Vacation.Hands.Down.
I'm officially done with summer now.

**P.S. I'm done with my blog post...my son is still negotiating bedtime.**

ugh.

If you were at the outlet mall today at the same time as my dearest little family and you heard me turn into the angriest mama ever...sorry about that. Something about being in Banana really turns my sweet Rowan into a dreaded monster. Really like blood boiling. It occured to me while in there that Rowan can no longer be confined to a stroller...perhaps the end of an era...many eras that is...like taking him shopping. My children thought they were dying because of the heat. Even $6 spent on 3 cookies and $6 more spent on an impossible to push double car stroller didn't do the trick. Just to be understood...those strollers are for the birds. I'm just curious...did I complain that much about the heat when I was their age? Someone clarify me if I did. Yes little children I know it's miserable...I agree. I'd like to pack up our stuff at the drop of a hat and leave this state for good. But you already know that so that's a mute point. Our intention were a few things for R and then perhaps a few school clothes too. Rylan...only prefers graphic tees and gym shorts...which meant that he lost interest after he picked out his 3 shirts immediately after walking in the door. Mini Me chose everything in the store...now lets see if she still likes in a few weeks when school starts. All in all I'm pretty sure I should have just shopped online and let R go by himself while the babes and I napped. Sounds like it could have been more productive. And cooler. With lots less complaining.
Live and learn...happens daily here.
Happy freaking dog days of summer.

vaca.

My lover and I went out of town for 4 whole days.
It was amazingly, wonderfully, divine.
I love to travel with R for numerous reasons of course.
Some I'll not mention. (insert smirk)
Others I will.
He's the best darn navigator ever.
Like I don't even have to pay attention.
Occasionally I attempt to read a map.
**However on one occasion that I was sans Randy and with a dear friend...we weren't so fortunate.**
And he picks out the best darn restaurants.
And plans the best outings all on his own.
Traveling for our marriage is numero uno!
It's something we feel that we do a good job of doing for ourselves.
If you ask me it makes us sane.
Something to look forward to.
A must piece of advice to all married couples.
Here's a few tidbits from our trip...
We wore long sleeve shirts and jackets the entire time.
High was 58.
That's half of here folks.
We stayed in the most amazing house.
Ever used homeaway.com?
You should.
Seriously...it outbeats any hotel eva!
We spent an entire day with no agenda only to use public transportation.
We found ourselves at the center of a riot while on said public transportation.
I tried to jump off said public transportation.
We vowed to not eat at a single chain restaurant...which we did not.
R had one day of work while there.
Twin Peaks!
Not the restaurantant...the scenery...look up if you are ever there!
Breathtaking I'll tell ya!
I spent the day with a best friend who resides nearby.
It was the perfect balance of what this mama needed.

We're home and refreshed and are thankful for loving grandparents!

Gosh Darnit...

I did it again.
Sorry about that dearest blog.
You used to be top on the list and y
ou're slowly slipping down.
I'll recap and then attempt to
re-re-restart daily pic projecto.
We're having an AMAZINGLY,
wonderful, smooth summer!
Seriously...I love having all 3 babes near me all day.

I mean well there are times when I want to get my own apartment and all but that'll come later on...like when they're teens and stuff.
We've been busy bees around here and
thank goodness for routines that seem to make things just fantastico!
Sorry for the 'o endings...I've eaten charro beans twice today...perhaps thats the reason.
So anywho...here are a few pics recapi
ng our summer thus far.
Hopefully we'll see each other again soon...sooner than later that is.

**Cuisnart Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt/Sherbert Maker...GET.ONE.ASAP. You can thank me later.** Oh...23.99 right now at Costco with the coupon...even better. Then after you thank me...I'll be so gracious as to gift you my recipe for yellow cake batter nonfat frozen yogurt...YUM.**

**We were recently gifted this nostalgic popcorn maker. It's AMAZING! Makes movies so much better with homeade kettle corn! Get yourself one of those too!**

**And a few chores here and there of course.**

**The 'ol waterhose on the trampoline trick...keeps em busy for.EVER.**

**Dino Park in Bastrop...LOVED IT. Can't wait to go back...when it's not 1000000 degrees outside.**
