Concerned citizens may have saved the lives of two young children after they were found Sunday night sweating inside a sports utility vehicle with its windows rolled up in the parking lot near Rio Grande Tex-Mex.
Parents Beatriz Pedroza, 25, and Miguel Angel Lopez, 33, of Round Rock were arrested and each charged with endangering a child after leaving them in the SUV for about 30 minutes while they went inside the restaurant. The charge is a state jail felony, Lt. Dwain Jones of the Hutto Police Department said.
According to an affidavit, Officer Catherine Tangeman was called to the restaurant's parking lot off US Highway 79 after the children were discovered alone inside the blue 2003 Ford Expedition.
“Citizens were walking by going into the restaurant. One opened the door and both kids were sweating profusely,” Jones said.
Jones said the children, an 18-month boy and 5-month old girl were treated by paramedics from the Williamson County Emergency Medical Services. Child Protective Services was called and released the children to grandparents.
According to the affidavit, Pedroza said earlier in the day she had been on Sixth Street in Austin drinking beer and she and Lopez decided to drive to Rio Grande to drink some margaritas.

Tangeman further reported in the affidavit that Pedroza put the children in imminent danger by driving to Hutto intoxicated, leaving the children unattended in the vehicle with open alcohol containers in it for more 30 minutes and not voluntarily seeking medical care for the children.
Both Lopez and Pedroza were released Monday from the Williamson County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000 and $7,500, respectively.

Those parents should have stayed longer in jail and been fined alot more than that. I have no use for parents that do things like that.
